Hollywood moved from New York to Los Angeles to avoid Edison’s patents

Hollywood is the world’s recognized capital of the film industry. However,
this was not always the case.

Originally, in the 1800s, the Dream Factory was based in New York City,
which was close to New Jersey, and New Jersey was based in New Jersey for patent master Thomas Edison.

Edison held patents on over 1,000 different things,
including most of the technology needed to make high-quality films.
In short, if you wanted to be in the movie business, then you had to deal with Edison.

Therefore, “independent” filmmakers have chosen an alternative option to deal with Edison: fleeing from Edison.

Charles Darwin invented his own wheeled office chair

What for? Because this man was a genius, that’s why.

While office chairs on wheels were already being made back then, they weren’t comfortable,
or in any case, as ergonomic as they are now. So Darwin did something radical with his luxurious chair.

This man was a known workaholic, and when he wasn’t collecting his samples,
he would sit and study them and take notes.

He found that in order to move from table to table in his office and laboratory,
he had to travel the entire room. So to maximize his productivity and save valuable research time,
he decided to attach wheels to his luxurious chair.
